Grants Awarded to Five Westchester County Agencies

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Five Westchester County senior service organizations have each been awarded $2,500 by Lifetime Arts to plan and implement Creative Aging programs as part of the “Creative Aging in Westchester County” initiative, generously supported by the Westchester Community Foundation.

Designed and administered by Lifetime Arts the project increases the capacity of these agencies to enhance the lives of older patrons through professionally-led arts education programs. Creative Aging programs connect older adults with teaching artists specially trained to work with them for hands-on arts programs in all disciplines. These sequential, skill-building workshops embedded in socially-rich community settings, help combat isolation and reinvigorate learning. Senior service organizations that add Creative Aging to their menu of services improve their programming, expand their reach, and attract new partnerships and patrons.

The “Creative Aging in Westchester County” grantees are: Beth El Synagogue Center (bethelnr.org) and Hugh A. Doyle Senior Center (newrochelleny.com) both in New Rochelle; The LOFT LGBT Center (loftgaycenter.org) in White Plains; Mount Kisco Senior Recreation (mountkiscony.gov); and Town of Mount Pleasant Office of Elder Americans (mtpleasantny.com). “We’re so pleased to be working with these groups throughout the county, who, like us, are committed to enhancing the quality of life of older adults in their communities. In addition, we’re excited to help the older adults who participate in these programs develop and explore their own creativity,” said Lifetime Arts co-founder and Executive Director, Ed Friedman.
