People come to creative aging programs with a wide range of abilities and experiences—including changes in memory and cognition. Even when a program isn’t specifically designed for people living with dementia, there are simple ways to make it more welcoming and inclusive.
In this webinar, Julie Kline, Director of Program Strategy at Lifetime Arts, Sam Goodrich, Vice President of Programs at TimeSlips and Program Manager at Memory Cafe Alliance, and Katie Fanning, Senior Manager of Access Programs at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, will explore three arts program models designed for people living with dementia and their caregivers and consider what they can teach us about making creative aging programs more welcoming, accessible, and meaningful for everyone. We’ll also introduce Moments that Matter: A Field Guide for Performing Arts Programming for Audiences with Dementia, a new resource created by Lifetime Arts and Lincoln Center designed to help put these approaches into practice in specifically performing arts settings.
You’ll walk away knowing how to:
- Apply lessons from dementia-focused arts programs to a variety of creative aging settings.
- Use practical strategies to make arts experiences more welcoming, accessible, and supportive.
- Better engage older adults experiencing memory and cognitive changes, as well as their caregivers.
